Our Newlywedsatwork.Com mailing group has been a God-send.  Through our group, I was introduced to Money Saving Mom and My Delicious Ambiguity.  Both sites provide useful information on how to make arts and craft ideas for your active toddlers to keep them busy for hours.

I’m not trying to get rid of my son or anything but coming up with ideas to keep him occupied while learning as well has proven to be a difficult task.  I was so happy with the ideas shared in both sites that I made 3 busy bags so I can share a couple of activities to my son’s friends.

For this 3 busy bags, all I needed was to print the instructions from the sites, buy some felt paper (which was easy enough and I have plenty leftover from my Angry Bird and Brag Bag projects), and cut out the patterns.

Then I just had to assemble each project into an envelope.  Ziplock-type bags here are not as tough as the real Ziplock bag so I decided to put ‘em all in clear envelopes that can be used and re-used for a long time.

I made a Cupcake Busy Bag which was a hit with Sam’s girl-friends:

and a Clothesline Busy Bag:

Sam loved this Clothesline Busy Bag.  A variation could be you let your kid design the clothes with coloring materials.  Like what the guide suggests, you can also ask your kid to wash the clothes first in a small basin then ask him to hang them to dry.  What my friend’s kid do is that when the clothes have dried, she proceeds to iron ‘em on her toy ironing board.  Not only do you keep your toddler busy, they learn the concept of chores as well.

Any other suggestion to keep my son occupied?

    hi,

fellow n@wie here. you could make “pizza” too with the felt cloth.
for my son i used old styrofoam placemats and coasters to create “sandwiches” and “waffles”!

    good job, by the way!
